About

The daughter of a street musician and singer-songwriter, Melody’s playground was the practice session and the live show her lullaby. By the second grade she was doing Apple Jacks commercials and improvising onstage with BB King’s daughter at grade-school assemblies. In 2013 she moved to Berlin and began singing in an 8 piece soul cover band, playing spots like the famous Clärchens Ballhaus. After a year of performing some of her favorite Motown hits, she decided to focus on writing and producing original music. In 2015 Melody released her debut EP, Often Unrequited, written and recorded in her bedroom closet. She then teamed up with singer-songwriter Caitlin Cook to form an indie folk duo, Little Hermit, and together they released Thanks Mangled Brain. She released her debut LP Comets & other drifting bodies, an exploration of the spaces between us, the vastness within us, and the little bits of magic that bridge the distance in 2019. She is a freelance podcast host, producer and show developer. Her projects include Holding the Fire: Indigenous Voices on the Great Unraveling, Power: Limits & Prospects for Human Survival, Crazy Town, and Absolute AI. She is now pursuing her PhD in Environmental Studies and Philosophy at the University of Oregon.
